Joe Lieberman just said on FoxNews how he would be open to supporting a Republican presidential candidate (hmmm...think he has one in mind, another faux-moderate, maverick wannabe, McSomething or other?).

He once again repeated the usual Republican lies/talking points when he spewed he would support a Democrat if they "were committed to defeating Islamist terrorists" (I may be off by a word or two, but this was essentially it).

Throw aside for a second what I think is a stupid term anyhow (how about we utilize the phrase Christianist terrorists too, for those who bomb abortion clinics here and kill people for their religion in places like, let's say, Ireland?) or the fact that he looked like Alf's dad as he talked, making it hard to concentrate.

So, once again, because Democrats realize his war in Iraq is folly--that it is doing nothing but strengthening the very terrorists he claims to want to stop--somehow we are not committed to getting the people who actually attacked us on 9/11 when our president was stumbling over multisyllabic words and picking his nose in a classroom in Florida.

To those who said it would make no difference who we elected, Lamont or Lieberman, because either way we would get a Demcrat, this is what you have stuck us with.

Well done.

For a trip down memory lane, here's what I had to say about Droopy The Fabricator here, here, here and here.

I detest Joe Lieberman with every fiber of my being.
I think my hatred is caused by the fact that I openly rooted for him as the running mate for Gore. Being JBA (jewish by association) I was tickled pink that a Jew could be VP.
I must have being drunk or stoned when I read his views, or he has veered so far right that he is unrecognizable.
Every time one of the R's touts him as "bi-partisan" I wanna scream, "Yeah, if the parties are the R's and Likud!!".

Argh.

You are right Paddy. And I made the mistake in 2000 of being a supporter too (he wasn't my first choice, but I got on board and really rooted for him...what a freakin waste...).

He is nothing other than simply detestable right now...

Paddy, how do you think I feel?

While I didn't have much time to give I gave whatever I could to Ned. I was on his bandwagon in March, saw him speak and thought he was the one. I knocked on doors, went to town halls to get voter lists, made phone calls, showed up his public events and talked Ned up everywhere I went. I knew we had to get rid of Joe once and for all. In August we sent him a message and he gave us a collective 'F U!' Then he ran one of the dirtiest and most untruthful, unprincipled campaigns and won in November.

To say I hate him is an understatement.

Right there with you disnoir. I was on the Ned Lamont bus from the beginning...even did some consulting early on (stopped before I began writing about the race)...that was one of a few from the last race I wish we could have back...

disnoir, I can't imagine how you feel. Lamont was the real deal, and Lieberman just stomped all over the citizens of CT.

Do they do any state polling there? I'd be curious to know what Liebermans' approvals are like.

I just looked it up Paddy - Can't find any recent statewide polls on Lieberman. Can't wait for the first one though...

Yes, Jambon...that would make for good tv...we could put it on Fox, where Joe would be more comfortable.

Lieberman must be feeling pretty smug, thinking he's got the Democrats over a barrel.

To quote a line from the silly movie "The Mummy" (the one with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz), "nasty little men like you always get their comeuppance in the end."

We can only hope this applies to Lieberman.

Crap. It really pisses me off that the voters of CT were so blind to this asswipe. I doubt he will get elected again. But he is a problem right now.

I agree with all of you!

And to make matters worse, Tim Johnson's still a big question mark.

I know I sound like a broken record, but CliffDog, can you get some of your previous LieberShmuck posts out of mothballs and re-introduce some of his history to those who aren't up on it?

Your stuff on him was superb.

Yeah paddy

CT had an opportunity to get a real genuine person as a senator. The Republicans voted for him as a payback. It's the 30% of Dems who I can't understand. I still think of a woman on election day who told me she didn't like Ned's commercials he was 'mean' to old Joe. Or a woman who I talked to on the phone for like 20 minutes who actually agreed with the war. These are Democrats. Being mean to old Joe is like being mean to Senator Palpatine in Star Wars. He might look old and frail but underneath he's an evil SOB.
