Go read this statement by Rocky Anderson up at Kos on impeachment. It is erudite, convincing and passionate. It might just change your mind or reinforce what you are already thinking.

And even if you disagree with Rocky, which I also understand (I am torn, to be quite honest) you'll have a hard time convincing me that he isn't the most impressive mayor in America right now. From Salk Lake City. Who would have thunk it (and that is no slight to the city, just the political leanings of the larger state in which it happens to reside).

Because of the seriousness of Bush/Cheney's disregard for the law, among other things, something finally needs to be done, if only to show that such behavior will not be tolerated.

Whether or not the effort is successful, the point must be made, loudly and clearly.

Otherwise, I feel like we're all acting like witnesses at a crime who collectively shrug and walk away.

I agree with ed sikov. Impeachment isn't going to happen.

I would much rather hear the candidates tell us what immediate steps they will take upon inauguration to fill in the deep, deep hole this criminal administration has put our beloved country.

Maybe the best we can hope for is to try Bush and Cheney after they leave office. Something to think about anyway.

I agree...no impeachment will ever happen. I'm not sure what to think of that. Part of me feels that if we try to impeach, it will cause us to lose a lot of seats in the Senate and Congress because so much time will be wasted on that instead of the things the voters want, i.e. Iraq war to end, healthcare, etc.

On the other hand, I'm so sick of Bush and Cheney getting away with murder..I mean that literally. I think they are guilty of the murder of all those military troops that were put in the middle of a war without the proper equipment.

I'm sorry to say...being a Christian and all, I was sorely disappointed that Cheney wasn't the one killed in that attack last week. Nothing would have pleased me more. I'm sad that I feel that way, but that is how disgusted I am with this President and his administration.

The Republicans gave impeachment a bad name but perhaps if it enters rehab it can make a comeback

I agree with all of you. I wasn't so much sending you over there for that reason as to see what a fantastic progressive mayor we have in Salt Lake City. Too bad getting elected statewide will be almost impossible.

I am not even sure I am for impeachment. Sure they deserve it, but we, in this next election, can insure a majority for a generation (that is if we don't blow it), and while impeachment would have made a difference 2-3 years ago, not so much anymore...

Although, if they bomb Iran, well, things change...
