What Does A Dollar In Federal Taxes Get You?

As it is that fun time of year, what the hell, why not know what you're paying for. The Columbus Dispatch was nice enough to tell us.

21.4 cents - Defense (yes, that is the biggest slice of the pie, and I am sure it has nothing to do with ridiculous trumped up wars, bribes by defense contractors, pork for "planes, trains and automobiles to nowhere," etc.)

19.4 cents - Social Security (to the chagrin of Republicans who wish much like evolution or global warming, it didn't exist)

12.9 cents - Medicare (I'm sure Bush's crappy plan didn't raise those costs)

12.4 cents - Income security (unemployment, housing, nutrition assistance)

10.4 cents - Health (Do we even really deserve this while Richard Mellon Scaife pays taxes?).

8 cents - Debt interest (Thanks Bush Administration + Senator Stevens)

17.6 cents - Everything else (natural resources and environment, general government, transportation, veterans affairs etc.)

So yes, take a look at that, and think as you're paying your taxes, only 2.5% of it is going to veterans while almost 22% will ensure that Duke Cunningham/Dustry Foggo prostitute parties keep the Watergate rocking for years.

The Republicans: Hating the troops with your tax money.

What if you're like most people and don't have any money, you know, since Clinton left office and BushCo took over?
