Good morning!!!!
It's feeling like a good day here in Indiana-land. We have Gonzo going up against the big dogz at 930a EST and it's "Super Duper Politics Tuesday" on MSNBC.
The debate last night was refreshing, IMHO. My winner? Hillary again. (disgruntled sigh) But Obama and Edwards didn't suck, so all in all I thought it was interesting and actually (at times- gasp) entertaining.
So, what did you think? Who won? Who lost?
(PS- Please click on our newer advertisers- Go Left TV has some incredible stuff on their website- funny, entertaining and just plain good. Clean My Ride is a fantastic site for important things, plus very funny clips from very funny people. And what can I say about Paul Rieckoff and his book? The best. Lastly, if you're thinking of buying from Amazon, clicking thru our link to order gives us a little mojo at no cost to you!!)

Off to the grocery. Anyone need anything?
yes, please. half and half and purina little bite dog food. 20lb bag.
Yeah (sigh), Hillary "won". O'Padski is correct - Obama and Edwards did well. Is it just me or does Hillary look better now than at any point in her life? Mr. Gimme and I don't think surgery or botox (well, maybe a little), but the fact that she SO loves this it's energized her.
Obama's ongoing problem IMHO is not answering the frickin' questions asked - he still has no detail on an Iraq withdrawal. Typical political mistake, but not one that us dems, libs, progs are gonna put up with this time around I think.
I understand that there wasnt' much time for detail last night. I suppose we'll have time so see some real debates with fewer candidates. What I really want to hear from these candidates is:
1). Your wish list for universal healthcare and how would you convince us, the pharma and HMO companies and Congress?
2). Your REASONABLE plan for withdrawal from Iraq - god forbid we're still there in Jan '09. Kucinich was the only one last night who framed it that way. Richardson's 6 months is fantasy.
I have more, but those 2 are biggies. Sorry for the long post - coffee kicked in.
That last comment was me :)
Chris Matthews asks a great question (since you don't have a comment thread on the Moore post below).
Christianized medicine. Love it.
But Matthews' question. Hillary and Bill in 94 with a Dem Congress couldn't get it done. Why not?
The answer is simple. The American people weren't ready. Part of leadership isn't just thrusting a bold agenda on the public. It's preparing the public for that bold agenda, teaching them why it's important, leading them to a point where they demand it. It's called transformational leadership.
You can't just walk into any leadership position and say, "this is going to be great. Trust me. Just do this, you'll thank me later."
Doesn't work.
Frankly I thought all of them won.
Every candidate stood out in his or her own way. I thought Gravel looked crazy, and I wish people would stop praising him for being so plain spoken when he's really just a cantankerous old fart, and I thought Biden came off as being a dick at times.
Edwards had some great moments, so did Hillary. I really thought Kucinich did well for himself. His positions are the ones we often with the rest of the Dems would model. But he is so shrill that he turns people off and they don't hear the message.
This is YOUR fault. You reminded me that Gonzales was testifying this morning, and I've been watching him on CSPAN.
I have to stop. I'm calling my dentist to schedule a root canal to make me feel better.
Could someone please explain what you mean by the word "win"?
If Hillary Clinton won in your mind, what criteria are you using and why sigh about it?
If you think she just left the best general impression despite what you feel about her policies and you worry people may then vote for someone who just "looks" better, then that would make sense I guess.
I am just not understanding what you are using to decide who won and why her winning bothers you. Me, I haven't decided yet, but it would be nice to have more insight into why people don't go for her.
Who "won" is who most likely appealed to the most voters.
I support Edwards but I thought Hillary did an excellent job of presenting herself, artfully addressing the questions, sounding confident and prepared.
What ohdave said.
Makes sense now. Thanks for the clarification. Personally I would agree mostly with Kucinik but have little hope of his carrying the day. Fortunantly for me we have a good lineup of candidates overall. Biden, well, yuck.
I'm an Edwards girl. His video clinched it for me. I mean, anyone who will use a song from a Broadway musical has my vote.
