Okay, this is the second time in two weeks I've given a Faux person props, but I caught this when it was happening (desperately trying to find some real news) and sat and laughed like crazy.

Paris: Shep's Studio B #1 In Demo Friday
Shep Smith's sarcastic, side-splitting coverage of Paris Hilton's return to jail was the #1 demo hour on Fox News Channel Friday.

Studio B at 3pm, complete with soap opera references, dramatic retellings, and Geraldo's "johnson" line, averaged 626,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, making it the top-rated demo hour on cable news for the day (even topping O'Reilly, who had 564,000 in the demo).

Studio B had 2,355,000 total viewers, second only to the Factor's 2,504,000...

> Update: 5:59pm: Shep's total viewership nearly quadrupled the other cablers, and his demo viewership beat CNN's total viewership...

Maybe all the "unwashed masses" out there in teevee land aren't as blindly into the celeb culture as they say.
