Bob Geiger nails it on the head in this piece. Senator Judd Gregg, of New Hampshire, is the "Smokescreen Man." Whenever the GOP nees someone to put out a bs proposal, like they do on Iraq right now, he is there.

Apparently he didn't see what happened to partisan Republicans in New Hampshire in 2006. Sununu will be destroyed in 2008, and then we can turn our attention to Gregg.

It pains me to no end that EVERY all "news" channel is doing the Anna Nicole thing.... OVER AND OVER.

ARGH.

I know paddy...I feel for her family. But 24/7? We'll now get Anna Nicole for the next week, unless a white girl is kidnapped.

I love Anna Nicole but this is gonna be a whole lotta Anna when we should be talking about Iraq.

The way the Republicans are going we might see 3 elections in a row where the Republicans get their asses handed to them. In 2010, the Republicans will have the following senators up for re-election (ultimate goal is a 60+ super majority):

Open seat in Kansas (Brownback retiring)
Kit Bond (Missouri)
Senile Jim Bunning (Kentucky)
Robert Bennett (Utah)
Chuck Grassley (Iowa)
Johnny Isakson (Georgia)
John McCain (Arizona)
Richard Shelby (Alabama)
Arlen Specter (Pennsylvania)
George Voinovich (Ohio)
Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
Mel Martinez (Florida)
Mike Crapo (Idaho)
David Vitter (Louisiana)
Judd Gregg (New Hampshire)
Richard Burr (North Carolina)
Tom Coburn (Oklahoma)
John Thune (South Dakota)

In this list of 18 over half are rumored to possibly be retiring or will be over 70 at the time of the elections (Specter will be 80). Many of them might retire rather than go through tough re-elections that they will no doubt face (Specter, Voinovich, Bunning, Bond to name a few). Of the rest Martinez, Burr and Gregg are obvious targets due to changing demographics and for being shitty senators.

On the Democratic side we have:

Obama (Illinois)
Boxer (California)
Dodd (Connecticut)
Inoyue (Hawaii)
Leahy (Vermont)
Mikulski (Maryland)
Lincoln (Arkansas)
Salazar (Colorado)
Bayh (Indiana)
Reid (Nevada)
Schumer (New York)
Dorgan (North Dakota)
Wyden (Oregon)
Murray (Washington)
Feingold (Wisconsin)

In other words, not too many endangered Senators in that list.

BTW I loved Anna in Skyscraper. Then again, so long as I got to see her scantily clad, the rest of the movie really didn't matter.

I've been working long hours, I've missed a lot here, and there's just no way to catch up, so the following comment is just plain dumb and has no relevance whatsoever.

In the upper left corner it asks us to post a comment on you, Cliff.

So, where exactly on you should I post? And will you still respect me in the a.m.?

My arms are still free for posting, ya know, my rippling biceps and all.

Arms, legs, biceps. Too many choices. There must be some part of your body...some very prominent area...that will be sufficient for multiple comments.

Let me think.....
