Second thoughts there Freddie?

Thompson shies away from campaign talk at Florida appearance

MIAMI - The anticipation over unofficial presidential candidate Fred Thompson's Florida debut lasted nearly 48 hours. His actual appearance at the Young Republican National Convention in Hollywood: about 26 minutes.

(snip)
Thompson arrived nearly an hour late. He gave an eight-minute speech with few policy details, and spent more than twice that amount of time shaking hands and posing for pictures. He did not take questions from reporters, though he said, "The waters are pretty warm," when asked if he were still testing a presidential bid.

If I was a cynical person, I would surmise from this that ole Hollywood Fred got burned a bit by all the disclosures coming out about his past re Nixon and the lobbying.

The buzz last month was saying that he was to announce around the 4th of July, then it became 14-15th of July, and now it's the end of July.

My guess would be that he's waiting to see if any other shoes drop.

(Hollywood? A little blow? Weird sex? Well, that's what the R's would have us believe those movie stars do all day!!)

**oooh, from the comments- "He probably won't run because one of his phone numbers is on that list Deborah Jean "Pamela Martin & Assoc." Palfrey has helpfully provided to the press."

He may not run, but he's been a really interesting non-candidate.
