Six weeks after announcing her departure from the peace movement, Cindy Sheehan said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.
If she thought being a spokesperson was tough...
Sheehan announced in late May that she was leaving the anti-war movement. She said that she felt her efforts had been in vain and that she had endured smear tactics and hatred from the left, as well as the right. She said she wanted to change course. [...]
"I didn't expect to be back so soon, but the focus is different than it was before," Sheehan said Sunday. "Instead of talking and making accusations, we're going into communities and talking to the people who've been hurt by the Bush regime. We're finding out how we can help people."
I'm a big admirer of hers, but this doesn't make a lot of sense to me, even if she's doing it to draw additional attention to her cause. While she was an important voice at a time when nobody else had the courage to speak out and take action, I believe that things have evolved to the point where she is now one of many voices. I support her activism and wish more were as outspoken, but this would be a whole new ballgame.

I guess she's always up for a challenge.

I appreciate her sacrifice, but I have always found her just shy of stable.

Hi gottalaff and gimmeabreak,

When Cindy first started out, I could see that she was doing everything she could to get the rest of our soldiers home because she didn't want other parents to suffer as she did.

Now, I have to wonder if she just can't deal with not being in the spot light. She said she was going to walk away, she couldn't do any more. After she made her goodbye speech, everyone talked about it for a day or so and that was it. Now, she's making threats to Nancy Pelosi. Making threats to Nancy does nothing. Nancy isn't in charge of bringing the troops home, there is a process that the Congress and Senate needs to follow.

Cindy is acting like a screeching loon. You don't get results by threats towards someone who has no control of an issue. Cindy is just looking to get some more of that spotlight on her. She's overstepped her role and will only irritate those she THINKS will vote for her. I'd also like to know where she plans on getting the financial backing to run for office?
