Olbermann Joins NBC Sunday Football Crew

Salon

April 16,2007 | NEW YORK -- Keith Olbermann will add a fifth voice to the studio on NBC's Sunday-night football highlights show in the fall, the network said Monday.

Olbermann, who first became known as a host on ESPN's "Sportscenter," has shuffled between news and sports during his career. His "Countdown" show on MSNBC has been hot lately, with Olbermann drawing attention for commentaries taking on the Bush administration.

(snip)

He talks sports regularly each weekday afternoon on former ESPN partner Dan Patrick's radio show.

Olbermann, who will keep his weekday work, said he expects the Sunday job to be rewarding and challenging.

"I hope I can hold up my end of the bargain," he said.

Not earthshattering or politically important, but I thought some good news was in store for today.

I would have preferred if he had gotten a Sunday news talk show ala "Meet the Press", but I guess I have to learn to love football now.

Good for him! Ya know what the best part about this is? It's got to be driving Rush Limbaugh crazy!!!! His career as a sports commentator was short lived after his racist remark. Heh, heh! He'll be whining up a storm about this on his show!
