In a post at the National Review online, Andy McCarthy bemoans the Inspector General report on the misuse of power by the FBI. His main problem with it is that "civil libertarian extremists" will use the report to eviscerate the Patriot Act. McCarthy defends the government by saying

"It is worth bearing in mind here that Inspector General found the FBI's
mistakes here were based on incompetence, not malevolence"

That's right folks, no need to worry about the government misusing power, they're just stupid, not evil. Apparently, stupidity is something Republicans value these days, which explains the prominence of folks like Limbaugh and Coulter.

oh yeah - but most of us have known they are simply stupid...not even CREDIBLY stupid.

The Patriot Act just begged to be abused.

Let's see what congress actually does about this.
