"One day there will be a new attorney general, maybe sooner rather than later," Specter said sharply. In an interview with Reuters after the meeting with Gonzales, Specter said his comments did not imply he thought the attorney general should be replaced. No, apparently those comments implied that Specter was employing the philosophical tenets of Rene Descartes when pondering the many workings of space and time. Or he's a chickenshit who backed down. You choose.
Well, in any case, wouldn't that be a shame if Gonalez were actually replaced. It would suck to have an Attorney General who goes after criminals and terrorists instead of adults who watch pornography (no, there are no Republicans among that group).
Proposing having an Attorney General who doesn't hire and fire based upon politics, or more accurately, hire those who metaphorically practice a Mark Foley-style petting of this administration (in the case of some CPAC guests, however, not so metaphorical) would also be just downright crazy talk. Like Rush on the burgers with the Peyote sauce.
Wow, who ever thought we'd be looking back nostalgically at John Ashcroft?

What say you fair readers?
The jaw dropping, sheer arrogance of the Rep method of just controllling the messengers rather than following the laws never ceases to astound me. But then, so much of their methodology has been borrowed from the corp world; ie, Big Tobacco who strove to maintain the ideology of it ain't illegal or even immoral until your caught, charged & penalized-whereupon your actions are excusable while under appeal, at least gives a point of reference.
Arlen has always been a chickenshit. He makes big bravado statements, and then the White House calls him in for a "little talk" and he backs down. He's pathetic. But then again, aren't most Republicans?
At least John Ashcroft was good for a laugh from time to time, Gonzo is just freaking scary.
Does Specter EVER follow through?
I agree, ME, he is scary.
There are so many scandals piling up, it's beginning to look like a day on the 405 Freeway out here in LaLa Land.
That was a reference to pile-ups, not freeway scandals.
You can always count on Specter to say the right thing. You can never expect him to do the right thing. I don't know why he is always talking tough like that, it doesn't mean a thing.
