Attorney General Alberto Gonzales (wanted to get the full title in there while I still could) about to speak about the Prosecutor Purge live on Cspan 2 and MSNBC.

Go to TPM Muckracker for a timeline and updates, and also hit Crooks & Liars to read about how US Attorney Removal Halted Abramoff Investigation.

**********Update Analysis********

Oh man, that was fascinating. The man isn't just trying to keep his job, he's trying to avoid going to jail.

I love how his entire positio nin that press conference was "I take full responsibility for what happened, but I didn't know anything about it and it's somebody else's fault."

He needs to just resign already and go back to advocating for the execution of the mentally ill.

I went home to watch the "I take full responsibility but he did it" press conference.

I love the line they are all using..."We serve at the pleasure of the President". Sounds kinda...I don't know, dirty and scummy.

I have no doubt that Gonzo serves at his pleasure, no doubt at all. That's why he has to go.

Place your bets now on how long Gonzo lasts. I'm going with under three weeks.

I have the feeling that Gonzo knows if this thing doesn't blow over and Rove is forced to testify or it gets even uglier for Bush, he will be the one thrown under the bus, just like Libby.

I know he said it was "unfortunate" that he lied...why isn't he being charged with perjury for lying under oath? I think it's time the Dems start showing some spine and quit letting these assholes get away with their lies.

ME, that whole "serving at the pleasure of..." has always left me with the same queasy feeling. I've never gotten used to the phrase.

And I also agree with the Gonzo Countdown to Toodle-oo Time, brought to you by Karl Rove. He's not gonna last. And the Dems better get on the stick here. We've never had so many "opportunities". If we blow these, then we deserve what we get.
