Jim Webb a presidential candidate in 2008? There is speculation.

As long as he promises to continue getting in Bush's face and not follow the inane customs of this town--where you realize someone has made decisions worthy of jail time during the day but still shake their hand at night--he could definitely be my guy.

Ezra Klein, who is a friend, gets it mostly right in his analysis of the YouTube phenomenon and how it influences TV combatativeness among progressives.

Ezra in fact uses my appearances on MSNBC as one example, so let me explain my particular case this way. I do not put on a show because I know it will get me invited back (I am sure there are many who are that calculating). However, I know that I can express the true contempt I have for the lying shills of the far right when I do go on, without fear of not being invited back because of it.

So I don't have to try and stifle my overwhelming urge to deconstruct their pathetically weak talking points in a somewhat, let's call it, demonstrative manner. I know it makes for good Internet viewing, and hence is not a problem for bookers.

I hope that all makes sense.

Try telling your daughters that abstinence is the only way you unbelievable jackass....

Just came across the Deck of Republican Chickenhawks...Priceless!

Sorry for the delay in new posts folks. My baby is just being too cute today (and there is the small matter that I am in the midst of a book proposal).

But in the meantime, read my friend Bob Geiger's posts 1) kicking the crap out of the pathetic self-hating bed wetters known as right-wing bloggers and 2)Explaining why male cheerleader George W. Bush deserves no respect from Jim Webb.

Bob is a great progressive, a fighter and quite funny when he gets going. In other words he's a lot like Jonah Goldberg, except smart, funny, courageous and he didn't need his mommy to find him a career.

Is David Frum possibly the dumbest pundit in the world? I know, it's hard to make these kinds of claims with the likes of Richard Perle, Mary Matalin and George Will on the prowl in our editorial pages and on our television sets.

But really, comparing helping students afford higher education to oil subsidies? Is this moron out of his fuckin mind? Maybe he can tell us again how Iraq will be Eden. Or come up with another trite Star Wars phrase like Axis of Evil, so his wife can brag to all of DC that her moron husband came up with it?

After being so wrong on Iraq, to the tune of thousands upon thousands of innocent lives lost, can you, Mr. Frum, do us all a favor and for the love of God just shut the fuck up!

My pal Steve Benen at The Carpetbagger Report, as always, has the goods...

Oops...It turns out pissing off wealthy gay Americans was not so bright a move by Republicans.

Just another example that Karl Rove's brilliance, was, how shall we say it, OVERRATED.

Oh no! It can't be! What will I do!?!

Frist has decided not to run for president!

Big Winner so far this year: Sam Brownback. Rick Santorum, George Allen and now Frist have all been knocked out of the presidential race. Which means the so-called moderates like Giuliani, McCain and Romney split the vote while at least so far, the only big-name conservative potentially in the race other than Brownback is Newt Gingrich (if he is not too busy finding himself yet another wife).

So we would get the right-wing candidate we all crave, and then we can beat the snot out of him at the polls.

Let's hope Roy Moore, that nutbag Alabama judge, decides to live up to his threat this time to run as a Constitution Party candidate, then the right will really shatter....

Apparently there is a relationship between the level of one's psychosis and his/her support for President Bush (hint: it's not inverse).

I know, try to act surprised.

In fact, this isn't just speculation or hyperbole (not that there's anything wrong with that), but an actual psychological study conducted in Connecticut (wonder if they tested Lieberman voters?).

Money quote: "Lohse, a social work master’s student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President Bush."

In any case, Tom Tomorrow has the goods. Go check it out.
