Don't look now but penguins are again making people gay.

I don't know how the institution of marriage will survive yet another asault on its very fabric (especially if they are soy-eating penguins)...

Contrary to unfounded rumors in the press, Opus and I are just very close friends.

That's not what Opus says Ed. A tongue in the ear does count!

Well, we certainly can't go teaching our children that over 1,500 vertebrate species are known to have homosexual couples, many of them lifelong couples.

We can't go letting the Christian Right know that their argument that homosexuality goes against nature is W.R.O.N.G. and completely unfounded.

And we CERTAINLY cannot let them know that not only is it natural, it looks to be an adaptive evolutionary selection. Male/male penguin couples are given eggs by male/female penguin couples in nature, because the male/male couples have a larger buffer zone of safety are around their nest.

Anyone else starting to think that perhaps, just perhaps, homosexuality in humans might be an evolutionary adaptation to prevent overpopulation? With so many more species every year having provable instances of homosexual behavior, and with our closest relative (the bonobo...not the chimp) having a tremendous amount of homosexual behavior, as well as the next most intelligent grouping of mammalian species (the dolphins), the Christian Right in in for one hell of a long, bumpy ride as theory after theory of theirs is debunked by nature itself.

Go, nature!

Go away, bigots!
