Coburn Calls On Gonzalez To Resign

Crazy Tom Coburn became the first Republican on the Judiciary Committee to call on Fredo to resign. Money quote

Sen. Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) becomes the first Judiciary Committee Republican to ask Alberto Gonzales to resign, joining a small group of Republican lawmakers who have said they believe its time for the attorney general to leave.

“To me, there has to be consequences to accepting responsibility,” Coburn told Gonzales at today’s high-profile hearing. “And I would just say, Mr. Attorney General, it’s my considered opinion that the exact same standards should be applied to you in how this was handled. And it was handled incompetently.”

It didn’t end there: “The communication was atrocious. It was inconsistent. It’s generous to say that there were misstatements. That’s a generous statement. And I believe you ought to suffer the consequences that these others have suffered. And I believe that the best way to put this behind us is your resignation.'’

this statement says a lot.

apparently it's important to "put this behind us", because, well, an investigation could open up a whole big can of worms...
