Man, I've been fighting with this thing for a bit. Don't know if it's blogger or me.

FIE!!

Sorry Paddy...I figured people are having trouble as we are having a large traffic day and no comments.

Cliff: Did REALLY mean to link to a story about Britney Spears???

C'mon. Who the hell cares?

At 5:43 PM, Blogger Cliff Schecter said...

Oh barbara, I meant to link to that in the same vein I link to that legislator in Texas.

I don't give a crap about her. The fact that someone is willing to pay a million for her hair and yet only about 40% of eligible voters bother...well I was making a point.

Hi Cliff

Wow, the last thing I wanted to see today was a bald Britney Spears. You're killing me, man. :-|

Oh...the other day a friend of mine was telling me that "there's this great new blog by a guy named Cliff, I think you'll like it!" Hmmm....you think she would have noticed the name and the humongous White Sox logo and figure I've already found it! You're getting to be quite a popular guy, my dear. Now don't go gettin' all "too big for your britches" and forget your first blog fans, ok?

Oh...and if you think a bald Brit Spears is a sign of the apocalypse, you might want to check out Novak's column about the GOP firing the veteran-friendly committee chairman in order to save money. First the guy outs a CIA agent, now he's all patriotic. Go figure.

Hey, I never forget my roots Mary Ellen. We are on par to hit some serious page views today, but whatev, you're always my peeps.

None of this would ever have happened if you guys had not come here first!

At 6:09 PM, Blogger Paddy said...

What do you guys think about the snap previews? I think they rock, and once they open (even for the comments thread) all you do is click on them and VOILA!!

And John A's Neighbor Barbara...
I'm working on getting us on haloscan comments like Americablog, but I had problems with their site today. Too frustrating, I will try again tomorrow.

One of the best things about haloscan is you can comment and just minimize the window, keep it open and refresh for follow up comments. Will be great for liveblogging and Cspan watching!

Paddy

Love the snap previews, but I'm not sure of the haloscan for comments. On the AmericaBlog site, I can't refresh. I have to shut down the comments and then click again everytime I want to see new comments come back. It's so aggravating, I rarely comment over there. I'm not sure if that is because of something that is blocked on my computer or what...

I think it would be fun for all of us to meet over here for some of the primary's when all the results are coming in. Nothing like a party at Cliff's for a good time!

Party at Cliff's!...Yeah, we'll do a Cliff Schecter blog get together at some point.

At 7:02 PM, Blogger Mary Ellen said...

Sounds good, Cliff! I'll bring the beer!

At 7:19 PM, Blogger basheert said...

...and I'll bring McCain's leftover weenies from the Iowa Weenie Roast!

At 7:19 PM, Blogger basheert said...

By the way, I like the Haloscan feature that shows you the auto-refresh but Haloscan is down ALL the time it seems.
So, what good is the refresh if the comments don't work to begin with????

At 7:31 PM, Blogger Paddy said...

Hmm, interesting points y'all.

Let me do some more checking around about it. I'd heard at one point that there was a commenting program that worked rather like the old IRC.
(anyone remember that? Heh, good times)

At 7:57 PM, Blogger GottaLaff said...

Nothin' like a good weenie to make my day, Basheert!

I like Haloscan a lot, but it does seem to cause headaches. However, it would be great for spontaneous convos among us Cliffies. I find it the easiest to use overall.

I love the Snap feature, but at first it freaked me out. I thought it was some pop-up ad. But it's very cool, PaddyWaddy.

Speaking of freaking out...Britney's wig? Carol Channing much?

At 7:57 PM, Blogger GottaLaff said...

Oh, and Bulldog? Falwell's never right.

At 8:03 PM, Blogger GottaLaff said...

Off topic:
(via ABlog)
"Pentagon intentionally hiding 1/2 of Iraq injured and wounded -- no wonder the health care budget for those troops isn't enough"

At 8:09 PM, Blogger Fernando said...

I for one.... think the Britney thing is important. I don't care about her either but it says a whole lot about how screwed up our values are. Besides a page is turning somewhere if people pity her.

Did I read something about beer?

At 8:17 PM, Blogger Mary Ellen said...

It seems to me that there is all this information out on the blogs about how the veterans are getting screwed at every turn by this administration, yet, I never see anything about it on CNN or in papers like the Chicago Tribune. I just have to wonder if this news will ever get out into the public. Instead, we have to hear stories about Britney Spears shaving her head.

I need a beer. Fernando, want to join me?

At 9:17 PM, Blogger John Good said...

Mary Ellen - If Nando declines, count me in. Oh wait. . I already have a beer. How rude of me! May I offer you one?

At 9:41 PM, Blogger John Aravosis' Neighbor Barbara said...

Mary Ellen:

The WaPo set this all off yesterday with a front page expose of what's REALLY going on with the wounded at Walter Reed. Part two was printed today. Americablog has the whole story. This isn't hardly a blogosphere phenomenon. But John A is on a jihad. Bless that boy.

At 9:55 PM, Blogger Fernando said...

Cheers Mary Ellen, Cheers John.

Thanks for the beer offer...now, if we can get some pretzels through this computer screen.....

Cheers Fernando!

What a little party we got going here! I guess I am going to have to start doing open threads now.

I am an Easter Coaster (although: that may just be changing soon. Will keep you all updated).

What the hell is an Easter Coaster anyway?

At 12:01 AM, Blogger Mary Ellen said...

Cliff

Easter Coaster? Is that one of those little knitted Easter bunny things my grandmother makes me put my drink on so I don't stain the coffee table when I visit her on Easter Sunday?

At 10:34 AM, Blogger basheert said...

OK Cliff, now you're teasing us all...
moving someplace warm???

At 10:58 AM, Blogger Cliff Schecter said...

Nope basheert. But likely someplace where there will be a lot of political action in 2008. Does that hint help?

At 11:42 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

ok, Cliff are you moving to Colorado to be there for the convention or will you stay an Easter Coaster and move to DC (if you're not already there)?

And, no, I'm not trying to stalk you. I have Eschatonians that can vouch for me.

At 11:50 AM, Blogger Cliff Schecter said...

Ok, an answer. I am in DC now. If a few things work out right (a big consulting project, for example), due to lower housing costs, proximity to DC by flight and even car and nearness of family for my kid, I may soon be a....Columbus, Ohioan.

That's right, call me Mr. Heartland!

And I am totally hangin with paddy in Indiana!
